Welcome

Welcome to St Munchin’s Catholic School community. We trust that your association with the school will be both happy and rewarding. The time your child will spend in primary education is a most signi´Čücant period in your child’s life and in the life of your family.

St Munchin's 3 Year Old Programme commences in February 2013. Enrolments are now being accepted.
Our phone number will be 9234 7517.

We recognise the unique contribution made by parents to the life of the school and to the learning of the children. Education today demands parents are seen as partners and active contributors in the task of enabling children to reach their full potential.

When Parish, home and school share a common vision and work together, there is likelihood of success being achieved.
St Munchin’s Catholic School is a community of faith, with Jesus as its model. Staff, students and parents work together in a spirit of Christian cooperation, with their primary goal being the assistance in the spiritual, academic, physical, emotional and volitional growth of each child.

Our mission is to proclaim and witness the Gospel in a Catholic environment. We aim to integrate these values into the entire curriculum and life of the school. Our school motto, ‘Follow Truth’, helps us to focus on what is truly important to us at St Munchin’s. The learning programme which is offered at our school attempts to address the needs of all students and aims to provide the broadest range of educational experiences so that every person can enjoy challenge, achievement and success.
We celebrate the relationships which exists between all members of our school community and recognise the contribution made by all groups. The staff members at St Munchin’s Catholic School make every effort to keep abreast of educational developments and apply best practice within the classroom.

Robert Romeo, Principal.

Aim
To ensure the St Munchin's Out of School Care service offers high quality care for children attending pre-primary to year six in a safe, friendly, age appropriate environment for children and their parents, with professional, caring and motivated staff.

Goals
The focus of St Munchin's Out of School Care service is the happiness and well-being of your child. We believe that the program for our centre should provide opportunities for children to participate in stimulating activities, dynamic play and lateral exploration to encourage both individual processes and social/group engagements that are part of a shared, collaborative and resource rich environment.

Quality after school care and vacation care helps children develop their potential in all areas of emotional, social and physical development. Our centre seeks to emphasize creativity, imagination and lateral invention in our approach to making fun, and believe that both the programme and staff initiatives should reflect such modelling through an ethic of improvisation, creative imagination, problem solving, self challenge and humour. In this way, it is important to us that the program encourages a deeply child-centred environment with an ‘extension’ approach to developmental challenge.

We believe that self choice is an essential base of children’s enjoyment in their recreational time, and therefore we will seek to extend the range of children’s experience through facilitating planned activities as well as spontaneous forms of play.

Parents are encouraged to develop effective communication with the staff at the centre. The Centre phone number is 9234 7511 or email us
Our staff show the children respect as individuals and respond to their needs in a warm, safe and friendly environment.

Objectives

  • To provide a safe and secure environment.
  • To provide an environment for children to feel relaxed and in a place where they belong.
  • To provide a range of stimulating developmental and social activities which cater to individual needs and abilities.
  • To provide a place for children to make new friends.
  • To maintain high levels of health, hygiene and cleanliness.
  • To promote respect and consideration of others.
  • To promote self responsibility by providing opportunities for children to make choices, take on new challenges and enhance self-esteem.
  • To value and encourage the involvement of children and parents in program development.

A Catholic School Education

At St Munchin's we believe that a Catholic School Education is:

  • A preparation for young people to handle the challenges of this world in a Christ-like manner
  • Essential to the life of the Church-at-large
  • A gift to the Church and to the world
  • A way to educate the whole person for service in a world so desperately in need of kindness and compassion.
  • A privileged means of building community among students, faculty, and parents
  • Vital to the future of the Catholic Church in training and empowering tomorrow's leaders to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God
  • A faith journey . . . a hope journey . . . a love journey.
